All members are invited to attend the 2023 AGM which will take place at Old Gala House on Wednesday 29 April at 7pm. This is the first AGM since 2020 and accounts for each year since then will be presented.
In addition, the secretary wishes to propose a change to the club constitution. The committee is struggling for numbers and constitution currently stipulates that a quorum for a committee meeting is 7 and for a general meeting (such as the AGM) is 13. It is proposed that the constitution is amended to show a quorum for committee is reduced to 3 and a quorum for general meetings is reduced to 9. This reflects the current commitment, interest and involvement with the committee and will ensure decisions can continue to be made in the interests of the association. The current quorum arrangements risk rendering the committee unable to make important decisions around policy and finance, and potentially, in worst case scenario the club being wound up.
The secretary is happy to discuss this proposal ahead of the meeting on 29 March if any members would find that helpful – please get in touch via the contact page at https://galaangling.com/contact-us/.
